Abstract

Allah Almighty has made Islam a complete and universal religion. It comprises of many visible as well as invisible characteristics. One of such characteristic is to provide food and provisions to the needy and poor. While answering a companion, once the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said the best deed among all in Islam is to provide food and say Salam. Now a days world is facing a great challenge in the form of Novel Corona Virus (Covid-19) pandemic which has greatly effected all economic activities of the whole world. IMF projects that advanced economies will contract by around 6% in 2020, while emerging markets and developing economies will contract by 1%. People living close to the international poverty line in the developing countries, low and middle income countries and individuals will suffer the greatest consequences in terms of extreme poverty. The desert locust invasion also reached in different countries and agricultural lands which poses a significant threat to the livelihood and food security. As food is a basic need for all humans. So Islam encourages feeding to hungry and needy regardless of religion, caste, culture or creed. Islam has expressed the great concern, etiquettes and importance of feeding in very distinct way. In this paper this characteristic has been described in the light of Islamic teachings.
