Abstract

The family is the fundamental unit of human society and the cornerstone of building a stable, peaceful, and dignified community. Islam establishes the family system on the principles of love, mercy, justice, mutual cooperation, and responsibility, while clearly defining the rights and obligations of each family member. The Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) place great emphasis on marriage, respect for parents, the moral and religious upbringing of children, maintaining kinship ties, good marital relations, and family stability, as the family serves as the primary institution for the development of human character, personality, and moral values. However, in the contemporary era, the family system is confronted with numerous social, economic, cultural, and technological challenges. The decline of religious and moral values, the increasing rate of divorce, domestic violence, economic pressures, unemployment, the excessive use of social media, the influence of Western culture, individualism, the growing gap between parents and children, neglect of the elderly, and the weakening of family ties have significantly undermined family stability. As a result, not only is the family institution adversely affected, but society as a whole also experiences moral, psychological, and social crises. Islam offers a comprehensive, balanced, and practical solution to these challenges. In the light of the Qur'an and Sunnah, strengthening religious and moral education, facilitating marriage, ensuring the fulfillment of mutual rights and responsibilities between spouses, respecting parents, providing effective upbringing for children, promoting patience, consultation, justice, benevolence, maintaining kinship ties, encouraging the responsible use of modern communication technologies, and fostering a sense of social responsibility are among the essential means of preserving family stability. The practical implementation of these Islamic teachings at the individual, familial, and societal levels can effectively address most of the challenges confronting the contemporary family system and contribute to the establishment of a society characterized by love, peace, justice, brotherhood, and mutual respect.
