Abstract

This research, entitled “Protection, Development, and Character Building of the Younger Generation in the Light of the Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ,” is an academic and intellectual study that presents a comprehensive analysis of various aspects of the education, moral development, character building, and social reform of the youth in the contemporary era. The primary objective of this research is to examine how the younger generation can be properly guided to face the modern challenges. In this regard, the Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is presented as a comprehensive and practical model that provides guidance for all aspects of both individual and collective life. His noble life serves as an authentic and reliable source of guidance for every era and society. By drawing upon the principles of the Prophetic Seerah, the intellectual, moral, and social development of the younger generation can be effectively promoted. The threats confronting the younger generation include potential harm to the fundamental objectives of Islamic law, namely the protection of religion, life, lineage, intellect, and wealth. These threats become more severe during periods of widespread fitnah (trials and tribulations). In the light of the Qur’an and Hadith, this study explains the concept of fitnah as a situation involving trial, tribulation, and difficulty in distinguishing between truth and falsehood. It also examines the principles that should be adopted to protect and guide young people in times characterized by violence, disorder, conflict, and social corruption. The study highlights the significance of the Maqasid al-Shariah—the preservation of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and wealth—and, in light of the Prophetic Seerah, proposes a comprehensive, balanced, and effective framework for the younger generation. This framework can help them develop the right intellectual, moral, and practical direction, protect them from contemporary trials and challenges, and enable them to become righteous, morally upright, responsible, and successful members of society.
